Note for Love You Forever
This is a story about vampires and gangs of mafia men set in St. Louis, a city rife with the effects of failed institutions and systems. To the outside world, St. Louis is a “dangerous” place to observe from a far like a troubled teenager or family member going through it. To me, it is home. Ignore what the media says, or even the perceptions of some of the characters in this story. Sure, it’s a city of brash, honest, foul mouthed individuals, but its also a city brimming with culture, sights, history (both horrible and amazing, like all history), and beneath the facade, a community that will support their neighbors (unless your neighbors are brandishing guns at a peaceful protest like they are flinging the carving knife at Thanksgiving after a few too many - you can guess my words for those types).
That being said, I try my best to advertise this book as an adult urban fantasy. Here are a few elements that might be cause for pause before you read.
Some of these might be spoilers:
Heavy explicit language (the number of fox’s given are…238)
Drug/alcohol use (which is technically legal in St. Louis)
Mafia/organized crime
Misogyny
Questionable consent
Mentions of violence against women
Open door/in the bed sexual content
Blood
Torture
Death
Kidnapping

Note for Love You MADLY
At the time of editing this book, an act of cruel and unjust malice has been brought down on the community of New Orleans. Because of the recency of these events, the subject matter within this book might be hard to read for those affected by that tragedy. My heart always goes out to those victims of senseless crime and injustice. What happened in New Orleans on New Year’s Day should not have happened. My voice on institutions in cities like New Orleans and St. Louis has been loud from the beginning of this series. I am critical of the social services meant to protect and serve its citizens and yet fail to do just that. A biased government is no democracy. Importance to people’s lives and safety should not be weighed by their net worth nor their zip code.
As such, I do like to spell out certain subject matter that might be cause for pause before you read. This is an adult urban fantasy that while lighthearted and funny at times, is also quite dark. This list may contain spoilers:
Imprisonment and torture
Blood/vomit/gore
Body horror in graphic detail
Open door/in the bed sexual content
Mentions of violence against women
Drug and alcohol use/abuse
Mental health struggles/depression/suicidal thoughts
Murder
Heavy adult language
